    Property Description

The Great Southern Hotel in Killarney is one of Ireland’s most beautiful hotels – it has been famous for over 160 years. Originally opened as the Railway Hotel in 1854, it became the Great Southern Hotel in the early 1900s. When you add in its wonderful architecture retained from those Victorian times, its world class hospitality, its position at the start of the iconic Ring of Kerry, and its 6 acres of beautiful gardens in the center of bustling Killarney Town, the Great Southern Hotel truly deserves to join the WOW Factor family of products.

The numerous temptations of Killarney are just steps away. World class restaurants, singing pubs, the Ring of Kerry, Killarney National Park, championship golf courses, boutiques, cafes, art galleries, Mackillicuddies Reeks, Molls Gap, jaunting carts, Killarney’s Lakes, Ross Castle – an unbelievable collection of history and modern possibilities. Not to mention the UNESCO World Heritage site of Skellig Michael, where Star Wars: The Last Jedi was filmed, only 5o miles away.

Kinsale is justly famed worldwide as one of Europe’s most picturesque and fashionable resorts. It offers world class golf, gourmet wining and dining, spa facilities,  and scenic drives.  There are numerous other adult, family and kids attractions, including its Private Marina, Yacht Charter, Deep Sea Fishing, Sailing, Kite – Surfing & helicopter trips to Ireland’s world famous links courses, including Ballybunion, Waterville, Tralee and Lahinch.

Other attractions in the town include St. Multose Church, built in 1190, Desmond Castle, the 16th century customs house for wines and tobacco (and later prison for American War of Independence captives), Charles Fort, the 17th century Star Fort, James Fort, and The Courthouse, built in 1600, which hosted the inquest into the sinking of the liner Lusitania. There are also multiple walking tour options in and around the town.
